Benefits of using Call Forwarding

Call Forwarding makes it possible for your incoming call to follow you almost anywhere. That's right-now you can forward your incoming calls to any telephone number that you can dial directly. Calls forwarded with this service are subject to local or toll charges as appropriate.

How to use Call Forwarding:

  1. If you have a 12 button telephone with touch tome service, press *72 and listen for a dial tone. If you have a rotary or pulse-dialing phone, dial 1-1-7-2, then wait five seconds for a dial tone.
  2. Next, dial the number to which you want the calls forwarded.
  3. Wait for the phone to be answered. In order for Call Forwarding to become engaged you must you must keep the connection for at least six seconds.
  4. If the number you dialed is busy or no one answers, hang up and repeat steps 1 and 2. Listen for two short toes. This means the service is in effect. Note: No answer is necessary on the second attempt.
  5. To confirm that your Call Forwarding has been activated, redial the activation code - *72. if you use rotary or pulse-dialing, dial 1-1-7-2. If you hear two short tones you will know that your call is being forwarded.
  6. To deactivate Call Forwarding press *73 if you have Touch-Tone service. If you use a rotary or pulse-dialing, dial 1-1-7-3. When you hear two short beeps and a dial tone, Call Forwarding is canceled.

Call Waiting - $5.00 activation charge, $3.25 monthly charge

Benefits of using Call Waiting

Now you will never miss another important call again because they got a busy signal! Call Waiting lets you know someone is trying to reach you while you are using the telephone. Then, you decide is you want to take another call or not.

How to use Call Waiting

To temporarily deactivate, press *70.
You will hear a tone that tells you that you have another call. The tone will be repeated in 10 seconds if you don’t take the call right away. The person you are talking with may also hear the tone or click; the second party calling hears only the normal ringing tone. To pick up the second call simply:

  1. Press and release the receiver button quickly. The first call will be put on hold and you will be connected to the second call, the caller will get a “no answer” not a “busy signal.”
  2. To return to the first call, press and release the receiver button again. You can switch back and forth between the two calls as often as you want.
  3. If you hear the beep and want to end the first call, just hang up. The phone will then ring signaling the second call.

Things to remember: If you prefer not to be signaled by Call Waiting during a particular call or when using your fax machine or modem, use Tone Block (see below)

How to activate Tone Block:

  1. If you are using a 12-button telephone Touch-tone service, press *70. If you are using a rotary or pulse-dialing phone, dial 1-1-7-0.
  2. Listen for the dial tone.
  3. Make your outgoing calls
If you have Three-Way Calling, you can activate Tone Block during a conversation.
  1. Press and release the receiver button
  2. Wait for three short beeps and a dial tone
  3. If you are using a 12 button set with a Touch-tone service, press *70. If you are using a rotary or pulse dialing phone, dial 1-1-7-0.
  4. Return to your call.
Please note:
Tone Block is automatically deactivated after you complete your call simply by hanging up.

Call Trace - $1.00 per use

Benefits of using Call Trace

This feature traces the number of the last call received and sends it to Citizens Telephone Company. It allows you to instantaneously track harassing calls and allows Citizens Telephone Company to offer you the option of turning this information over to the proper authorities. You will not be given the trace phone number but you will be charged for each successful trace. Call Trace should only be used when receiving life threatening, obscene or harassing phone calls. (Not available on a monthly basis)

How to use Call Trace
  1. After receiving a call, depress and release the receiver button. Once you get a dial tone, press *57 on your 12-button Touch-Tone phone. If using a rotary or pulse-dialing phone, dial 1-1-5-7. You must do this each time you want to trace a call.
  2. Listen for the confirmation announcement and hang up. The number of the last call you received will then be reported to Citizens Telephone. You will not receive the number of the party who called. you will be instructed regarding how to work with Citizens Telephone to resolve your problem.

Repeat Dialing - $5.00 activation charge, $3.00 per month

Benefits of using Repeat Dialing
The next time that important number is busy, you don’t have to sit by the phone and keep dialing it. Repeat Dialing redials the last number you dialed, and keeps radiating it for there minutes. Then, once the line becomes available, you are notified with a special ring. Calls made with this service are subject to local or toll charges.

How to use Repeat Dialing

  1. To redial the last number called, press and release the receiver button. If you are using a 12-button set with Touch-Tone service, press *66. If you are using a rotary or pulse-dialing phone, dial 1-1-6-6. This activates Repeat Call.
  2. If the number dialed is not busy, it will ring. If the number is busy, listen for the confirmation announcement and hang up. Repeat Call will attempt to make the connection for 30 minutes.
  3. If the line becomes free within 30 minutes, your phone will signal with a special ring. when you hear the special ring, pick up the receiver and wait for the called party to answer.
  4. If you do not receive the special ring within 30 minutes and you do not cancel Repeat Call, it will automatically cancel.
  5. To cancel Repeat Call before 30 minutes are up, press *86 if you are using Touch-Tone service. Dial 1-1-8-6 if you are using rotary or pulse-dialing. An announcement will tell you that that service has been deactivated.

Repeat Call does not function with calls made to most 700, 800, 888 and 900 numbers.

Return Call - $5.00 activation charge, $4.00 per month

Benefits of using Return Call

Once you begin using Return Call you will never have to wonder about the call you just missed. Nor will you ever have to ”run after” a call again. Here’s why: Return Call lets you call the last number that called you, whether you answered the telephone or not. If the called number is busy, Return Call will keep dialing the number for 30 minutes and signal you with a special ring if it becomes available during that time. Calls made with this service are subject to local or toll charges as appropriate.

How to use Return Call
  1. To block the last number that called you, just press *69 if you are using a 12 button phone with Touch-Tone Service. Or, if you are using a rotary or pulse-dialing phone, simply dial 1-1-6-9.
  2. If the called number is not busy, it will ring. If the called number is busy, listen for the confirmation announcement and hang up. Return Call will attempt to make the connection for 30 minutes. If the connection is made within 30 minutes, you will be signaled by a special ring. When you hear the special ring, pick up the receiver and wait for the party to answer.
  3. If you do not receive the special ring within 30 minutes and you do not cancel Return Call, it will automatically cancel.
  4. To cancel Return Call before 30 minutes are up, press *89 if you have a touch-tone service or dial 1-1-8-9
  5. If you are using a rotary of pulse-dialing phone. An announcement will tell you that the service has been deactivated.

Benefits of using Call Answering

Call Answering is like having a private answering service, only better. It answers your phone 24-hours a day and stores your messages. It works when your line is busy as well as when you can’t answer the phone. You can use Call Answering to leave reminder messages to yourself and it can even forward urgent messages to another number To use Call Answering you need a Touch-Tone or tone signal telephone with * and # buttons.

How to use Call Answering

Messages cannot be retrieved until your mailbox is set up. Using a Touch-Tone or tone signaling telephone with a * and #, follow these simple steps: To set up your Mailbox:

  1. Dial your Call Answering access number. This number will be provided to you by your Citizens Telephone representative.
  2. Enter your temporary passcode -- that lst four digits of your telephone number.
  3. The voice prompt will then tell you to :
a) change your passcode by choosing any 4 digit number.
b) record your name to identify your mailbox
c) Record your personal greeting

To listen to Your Messages:
  1. Dial the Call Answer access number.
  2. Enter your passcode to hear the main menu
  3. Press 1. After each message the voice prompt will tell you how to repeat, save or erase the message you have just heard.
To Change your mailbox Options.
  1. Dial the Call Answer access number, press #.
  2. Enter your passcode to hear the main menu.

Benefits of using Selective Ringing

Selective Ringing allows you to identify your six most important calls by assigning them a “special” ring. All calls made to your number form these numbers will have that special ring. If you have Call Waiting, Selective Ringing will provide a special Call Waiting tone for those numbers when you are on the line.

How to use Selective Ringing
  1. If you are using a 12-button set with Touch-Tone service, press *61. If you have a rotary or pulse-dialing phone, dial 1-1-6-1. Either way you will hear an announcement of the current status of the service. “ON” or “OFF”.
  2. A recording will help you create a list or add, delete or verify the numbers on an existing Selective Ringing list. For verification, the recording will repeat each phone number as you add it to your list. In some areas the recording will help you turn the service “ON” or “OFF”. Follow the recorded instructions carefully. To repeat the instructions dial 0.
  3. To add the number of the lst incoming call to your Selective Ringing list, hang up and before receiving another call, pick up the receiver and press *61 or dial 1-1-6-1. next press # or dial 1-2.
  4. Wait for the confirmation tone of three short beeps (this step is not required on some areas). Then press 01# or dial 0-1. Listen for the confirmation announcement and follow the instructions.
  5. To remove all the numbers form your list, dial or press 08.

Benefits of using Selective Call Forwarding

Selective Call Forwarding allows you to determine which calls go with you and which calls don’t. You get to pre-select six phone numbers you want to have forwarded. That means you can limit long distance charges and minimize the numbers of phone calls you will receive at your guest number. Calls made with this service are subject to local or toll charges as appropriate.

How to use Selective Call Forwarding
  1. If you are using a 12 button set with Touch Tone service, press *63. If you have a rotary or pulse-dialing phone, dial 1-1-6-3. Either way, you will hear an announcement of the current status of the service: ”ON” or “OFF”.
  2. Next, a recording will ask you to enter the number to which you want your calls forwarded. The recording will help you to create your list or add or delete numbers already on an existing Selective Call Forwarding list. For verification, the recording will repeat each number as you add it to your list. In some areas the recording will help you turn the service “ON” or “OFF”. Follow the instructions carefully.
